BCAM recognised in ELLE’s Tweakment Awards 2026

We are delighted to see the British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM) and our Vet It Before You Get It campaign featured in ELLE’s Tweakment Awards 2026, highlighting the growing importance of patient safety, informed decision-making and professional standards in aesthetic medicine.
Published as part of ELLE’s annual guide to the best treatments, injectables and practitioners, the feature explores how the aesthetics landscape is changing — with increasing interest in skin health, regenerative treatments and natural-looking results, alongside a growing demand from patients for clear information, clinical expertise and safer standards of care.
Putting patient safety first
ELLE specifically highlights the Vet It Before You Get It campaign as one of its three recommended resources for anyone considering an aesthetic treatment.
The campaign was created by BCAM to help patients ask the right questions before committing to treatment. Our free pre-consultation questionnaire encourages patients to check a practitioner's professional qualifications, experience, products and procedures, as well as what arrangements are in place should something go wrong.
The campaign has already received significant recognition, including winning Best Initiative at the Aesthetics Awards 2026, reinforcing the importance of giving patients practical tools to make safer, more informed choices.
A changing aesthetics landscape
The ELLE feature also reflects an important shift in the aesthetics industry. Rather than simply focusing on correcting or changing facial features, patients are increasingly looking for treatments that support skin quality, health and natural-looking results.
At the same time, patients are becoming more discerning about who they trust with their treatment.
BCAM COO Sadie Van Sanden-Cooke is quoted in the feature, highlighting the increasing importance of patients seeking practitioners who demonstrate ethical practice, transparency and membership of recognised professional bodies such as BCAM.
She also emphasises the need for greater oversight across the sector, with licensing, governance, competency and accountability becoming increasingly important.
“Patient safety will define the future of aesthetics.”
This is at the heart of BCAM's work. As the UK's leading professional body representing doctors and dentists practising aesthetic medicine, we believe that patients should be able to make informed decisions and have confidence that their practitioner has the appropriate medical training, experience and commitment to safe practice.
Vet it before you get it
We are particularly pleased that ELLE has chosen to include Vet It Before You Get It alongside its recommendations for patients looking for reliable information about aesthetic treatments.
The campaign encourages everyone considering an aesthetic treatment to pause, ask questions and check the credentials of the person providing their treatment before proceeding.
The message is simple:
Don't just choose a treatment. Vet the practitioner first.
