BCAM is a registered charity with a board of trustees supported by a central operations team. Board members play an active role in the charity’s day-to-day workings, sharing their knowledge and experience and influencing planning and strategy.

Dr Catherine Fairris - President

Dr Catherine Fairris has recently been appointed as the newest President of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM). She is an Aesthetic Doctor and director of the Wessex Skin Clinic. She joined the BCAM board in 2019, originally overseeing the BCAM academy. Dr Fairris became responsible for education and events in 2020. Since then she has overseen the delivery of the BCAM exam as well as presiding over two virtual conferences whilst also introducing the BCAM virtual coffee mornings and virtual educational events. Dr Fairris has a passion for medical education and evidence based medicine and holds a masters degree in Aesthetic medicine, which she completed with distinction in 2018 as well as a BSc in Pharmacology.

Dr Bhavjit Kaur - Membership & Education

Dr Bhavjit Kaur is a qualified medical practitioner since 1993 with many years’ experience in aesthetic medicine. She is a postgraduate in pathology, MS (biomedical sciences), DRCOG, DFSRH, cosmetic medicine and clinical education.

Dr Kaur is an appointed appraiser and mentor for BCAM members. She has contributed to medical journals as an author and reviewer. Dr Kaur is also frequently invited as a speaker at national and international conferences. As patient safety remains her priority, she focuses on latest advances in all aspects of non-surgical treatments and skincare.

Dr Ahmed El Houssieny - Board Trustee

Dr Ahmed El Houssieny is recognised as one of Cheshire’s leading aesthetic doctors, specialising in advanced injectable and laser procedures. He began his medical career as an anaesthetist in which he excelled for 15 years before discovering his passion for helping people feel more confident in themselves and moving into the field of aesthetics in 2014.

Dr Ahmed is the owner of Bank MediSpa in Hale as well as being a revered key opinion leader for Allergan, Hydrafacial, Zo and SkinCeuticals. He is a full member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine and holds a particular interest in training fellow practitioners in advanced injectables at both beginner and advanced levels. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences and has had his papers published in various aesthetic journals. His driving purpose has always been to deliver a high-quality service to his patients and raise standards within the speciality, especially when it comes to patient safety.

Dr Sophie Shotter - Vice President - Conference/Events & Stakeholders/Partnerships

Dr Sophie Shotter qualified as a doctor in 2008 and trained in anaesthetics. She discovered a love for aesthetics in 2012, and has been working in aesthetics full time since 2014. Practicing between Kent and London, Dr Shotter’s clinical passion is for combining great skin with delicate injectable treatments. Dr Shotter is also regularly called upon as a speaker at national and international conferences. Dr Shotter is passionate about patient safety, and as such has been a strong proponent for tighter regulation of the aesthetic sector.

Dr Haidar Hassan - Board Trustee

Dr Hassan graduated from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and has subsequently completed two Master’s degrees: one in Oral Implantology (distinction) and another in Aesthetic Medicine (distinction). In 2018, he completed his PhD at the University of
Gothenburg.

Dr Hassan is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Module Lead in Aesthetic Medicine/Oral Surgery at the Blizard Institute (Academic Plastic Surgery Programmes)/Royal London Hospital (Queen Mary University of London) and a Senior Lecturer/Examiner/PhD supervisor in oral implantology at King Juan Carlos University (Madrid, Spain). He has received a Diploma in Oral Implantology and a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons (England).

In 2019, Dr Hassan was awarded the British Council of Aesthetic Medicine Quality Research Award for his clinical paper on “Injectable platelet rich fibrin (i-PRF) in Aesthetic Medicine”. His research interests include education in aesthetic medicine, regenerative treatments/materials, platelet-rich derivates (PRF/allogenic growth factors), IV sedation and oral implants.

Dr John Elder - Finance & HIS

Dr Manav Bawa - Conference/Events & Education

Dr Manav Bawa is a multi-award-winning cosmetic doctor and Medical Director of Time Clinic Medical Aesthetics & Wellness in Essex. He is a is a member of the Allergan Medical Faculty UK and is currently on Dr Mauricio De Maio’s Global Mentee Program. Dr Bawa also works at PHI Clinic on Harley Street and has been an injectables trainer for 5 years.

His background is Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery, as well as being a GP. Being a keen educator led him to complete a Masters in Surgical Education at the prestigious Imperial College London.

Alongside winning the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ Award in 2022 at the prestigious Aesthetic Awards, he completed a PGDip in aesthetic medicine as well as being a member and board trustee of BCAM, the British College of Aesthetic Medicine.

Dr Bawa is an international speaker and regularly writes for journals in the industry. He specialises in the full facial approach, is passionate about mentoring and created a national support group for junior practitioners entering the industry.

Dr Nestor Demosthenous - Education & Stakeholders/Partnerships

Dr Nestor is an international speaker and published author in Aesthetic Medicine. Dr Nestor opened The Medical & Cosmetic Centre in Edinburgh’s city centre in 2016. Dr Nestor has also held regular monthly clinics in London

He obtained his Medical Degree and Honours Degree in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh in 2006. Upon completing his junior doctor years he pursued a surgical career, gaining experience from several surgical specialties predominantly Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Alongside this he entered Aesthetic Medicine which became his passion and ambition. Dr Nestor has been an advisory board member for Allergan’s complications group 2015.

Dr Nestor holds an MSc in Aesthetic Medicine from Bart’s & Queen Mary University London. He is a an Allergan Medical Institute Faculty member, as well as a KOL for Cutera Technology. Dr Nestor has previously been a KOL for Sinclair Pharma

Dr Deepa Panchalingam - Board Trustee

Dr Deepa completed her medical degree at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2012. She went on to refine her clinical skills at leading hospitals in Oxford and London before transitioning into the field of aesthetic medicine. With extensive experience in surgical specialties, she has developed an expertise in minimally invasive techniques and an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy.

Dr Deepa is the owner of The Sunninghill Clinic in Berkshire and serves as the Associate Medical Director at Dr Leah Cosmetic Skin Clinics in London. Her commitment to evidence-based medicine led her to complete a Masters in Aesthetic Medicine with Distinction, making her one of the few clinicians in the country to achieve this prestigious qualification.

Dedicated to advancing the field, Dr Deepa regularly trains and mentors other medical professionals in safe aesthetic practice. She is also a strong proponent of enhancing industry regulation and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety.

Chief Operating Officer

Jamie Lennon - Chief Operating Officer

Jamie Lennon is our Chief Operating Officer, and is a Registered Nurse (Adult) and former Royal Marines Commando, having served across the globe for over 21 years.

He joins BCAM as an experienced clinical operational leader, having served within the NHS as a Clinical Matron, and within the private sector as an Operations Director for insourcing, supporting the NHS to meet RTT targets and reduce waiting lists with high quality clinical service provision.

Jamie also holds a PGCert in Adult Education, and takes a keen interest in clinical education, training, and development, as one of the key pillars of clinical governance which assures clinical excellence and patient safety. He will work closely with the Board of Trustees and the Professional Services Team, to ensure BCAM continues to lead the aesthetic industry in quality and safety.
